Marvão, Castelo De Vide, Portalegre & Flor Do Crato

Program Overview
Country: Portugal

Marvão is a medieval walled village built up on steep rock at an altitude of 860 meters overlooking a barren scene of endless, almost volcanic, rock outcrops. Castelo de Vide is a quaint little place for a short visit; its dazzling white ancient cottages huddle around a castle. In the 13th century it served as a place for young couples to flock. Shoppers flock to Portalegre to sample the world-renowned wool industry—tapestries that are extraordinarily detailed and tightly woven woolen reproductions of paintings are most popular.
