Visit and compare two aquariums in Lisbon:  the Vasco de Gama Aquarium, a small but charming and significant marine museum, and the Lisbon Oceanarium, a modern aquarium marvel.  Led by local professor João Correia (expert in Oceanography and environmental sustainability), enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour at the Oceanarium and a guided interactive visit comparing the diversity and the morphological and behavioral adaptations of marine organisms on display.

The Oceanarium is a dazzling collection of exhibits relating to ocean ecosystems, with more than 10,000 plants and animals representing more than 350 species. It has won many awards including the Tripadvisor: certificate of excellence, Best Aquarium in the World (2015).

Later, explore a local nearby fish market, reflecting upon the lessons in fish diversity and fisheries learned earlier in the day.  Talk with a fisheries scientist about fisheries in Portugal, including their impact on Portuguese history and culture and modern-day management issues.
