What sensible SUNY Albany student would dress up her horse as a ship?
An amazingly creative and passionate alumnae from Semester at Sea® of course!
Anne Bruins combined her passions of Semester at Sea with her involvement with her University’s Equestrian team by dressing up her horse as the MV Explorer, her home away from home in the Spring of 2010, for the Halloween parade. Her creative storytelling was a complete success. There are many young alumni like Anne who are now a part of the Global Ambassadors program, wanting to share their knowledge and experiences at their respective colleges and universities.
What is the program?
The Global Ambassadors program officially began during the Spring 2010 voyage. The program has grown from the initial 35 Global Ambassadors to now over 150, the passion is readily apparent amongst the Ambassadors. The program offers young alumni a community network that supports each other as well as the study abroad community and future voyagers. They are a wealth of first hand and current knowledge and know how to best mentor other students at their schools through the admissions and pre-departure process.
Where are the Global Ambassadors?
In 35 states, Canada and China! Currently just under 100 colleges and universities have Global Ambassadors ready to share their first hand voyage experiences and enthusiastic to help others have their own transforming adventure!
How can you spot a Global Ambassador?
Not all will be riding MV Explorer horses, but many will be hosting a variety of fun events welcoming all those interested in learning more about the program and can be easily spotted in their blue polos. Please take advantage of this resource, and email arappeport@ise.virginia.edu if you would like to be paired with a Global Ambassador!
