Spring 2018 Disembarkation Diversion

Due to an approaching weather system in the North Atlantic, safety compels us to make another change to the Spring 2018 voyage itinerary. This large storm effectively blocks the ship’s path to Hamburg, Germany. As a consequence, Captain Kostas has decided to take the MV World Odyssey into safe harbor in Lisbon, Portugal.

The ship will arrive tomorrow (April 15) at 1600 and will remain at anchor while students finish final examinations and wrap-up the semester. Because of this safety diversion the ship will not be able to reach Hamburg on schedule. Therefore, participants will disembark in Lisbon on April 18 starting at 0830.

Port Address

Lisbon Cruise Terminal Santa Apolonia

Av. Infante Dom Henrique

1900-264 Lisboa

Semester at Sea is not obligated to defray costs associated with weather-related itinerary changes; however, Semester at Sea is offering participants $250 as shipboard credit to assist with added costs related to this change. Semester at Sea staff will be available to advise students about re-arranging travel plans, if needed.

While we regret that this diversion will disrupt our planned disembarkation in Hamburg, the safety of our students is always our first priority. For any additional questions or concerns, please contact our staff at programadministration@isevoyages.org or 970-491-3500.
