The capital of Ghana since 1877, Accra is also the capital of the Greater Accra Region and the country’s most populous city. The site of present-day Accra includes the original Ga town as well as British, Danish, and Dutch forts, and their surrounding communities. On this tour, you will drive through the administrative and economic districts of Accra and visit the Artiste Alliance, Independence/Black Star Square, and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, after which, you will have lunch in a local Ghanaian restaurant – fried plantains, beans, rice, fish or chicken. Your tour ends at the Arts Center, where you will have the opportunity to use your bargaining skills while shopping in an open-air market for artifacts from Ghana and West Africa. This is the ultimate if you want to bring home a souvenir from Ghana.
