Itinerary

Day 1

Tuesday, 21 February 2017

Begin the program with  scenic drive to Pathein (~5 hours.) Along the way, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and visit a typical family-run parasol workshop. Pathein is well known for its production of bright and colorful parasols. Originally, the umbrellas were made of simple paper, but eventually they became more elaborate and innovative with canopies of cotton, silk and satin with attractive floral designs.  The umbrellas are made of bamboo and softwood known locally as “Ma-U Thit”.  Later, visit the local market and enjoy life around the harbor. In the late afternoon, drive to Ngwe Saung Beach and transfer to the hotel for check-in and refreshment. This evening enjoy a fabulous group welcome dinner.

Day 2

Wednesday, 22 February 2017

Spend the day with a local cooking master as you learn how to cook and enjoy the taste of traditional Myanmar food.  Start the day at a local vegetable farm, where you, with local farmers, will help select vegetables for the day. Then, engage in a cooking class to prepare the dish of the day. Enjoy your culinary skills during lunch, and discuss local life with the farmers while you eat together.

Following lunch, transfer back to the hotel. In the afternoon, choose to join the group for a beautiful sandbar walk to ‘Lover’s Island’.  After exploring the Island, there will be a cultural stop at the neighboring Bu Kwel Village. Dinner tonight will be at your leisure.

Day 3

Thursday, 23 February 2017

The next morning, transfer to a nearby village and experience a day in the life of a local villager. Visit a traditional school and learn about the education system of Myanmar. Get the opportunity to lend a helping hand in a number of service projects including: distributing purified water at community centers, tree planting, teaching English courses and trash collection campaign. Afterward, transfer to the hotel refection and leisure time. That evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at the Bay of Bengal Resort.

Day 4

Friday, 24 February 2017

After checking out of the hotel, transfer to Pathein and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Along the scenic drive to Yangon, make a pleasant stop at Pan Ta Nor Town which is the home of former UN Secretary General U Thant, to visit a bamboo making factory.
