Bon Voyage Reception Marks the Start of 108th Voyage

With fewer than 24 hours to go before the 108th Voyage set sail from Nassau, the Semester at Sea faculty and staff invited parents of the upcoming students to climb aboard the MV Explorer and join the shipboard community for one short evening. Several Semester at Sea alumni volunteered to meet the ship in the Bahamas and guide parents through the unique living and learning environment that will shape their sons and daughters lives over the next semester. In total, over 500 family members toured the ship on Wednesday night, just ahead of the student’s embarkation on Thursday morning.

For those who couldn’t make it to Nassau, there are still plenty of opportunities to join the voyage as it travels to 15 ports in 12 countries over the next semester. Follow the journey on Twitter, Facebook, or right here at the Voyage Blog to share in the experience as the MV Explorer travels eastward around the world. And, of course, parents can revisit the ship at the end of this transformative trek when the students debark on May 2 in sunny San Diego, California.

After months of waiting, the time has finally arrived. The 108th voyage of Semester at Sea begins today. Bon voyage.
