ECON 101 Economics of Social Issues [CRN 75604]

Overview of Course

This course will use basic economics to discuss the causes and consequences of poverty in the United States and across the world. The course will describe the measurement, prevalence, demographics, and conditions of poverty through narratives and data. Students will learn to examine potential solutions with a critical eye and to understand the potential effects of various interventions in housing, nutrition, health, and education. The course will be tailored to the countries visited on the Fall 2023 voyage in addition to learning about the safety net in the United States.
