IE 471 Children and Youth in Global Context [CRN 23093]
Overview of Course
The experiences of individuals in the developmental periods of childhood and adolescence vary across the globe. In this course, we’ll discuss key issues affecting children and adolescents as well as what shapes these differences, and how we can promote health and well-being for children and adolescents with a focus on the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We will focus on cultural, social, and contextual influences that affect children’s lives and health, such as policies, practices, beliefs, and socialization strategies, with a focus on the experiences of children and adolescents in the regions of the world we visit. We will explore both major challenges and major opportunities for youth.
