POLS 362 Global Environmental Politics [CRN 74072]

Overview of Course

This course will be a study and examination of contemporary global environmental politics. We will examine global environmental politics in the framework of international politics. We will start with the concepts of politics, international politics, state, state sovereignty, international law, and the complex nature of global environmental politics. What does the international anarchy mean in the contemporary world and what are the implication for global environmental politics and future of humanity? More importantly, we will examine how the global north and global south see the global environmental politics. Who is responsible for status quo of global environmental crisis? How does the green revolution technology impact global environmental conditions? How does population growth in the global south and over-consumption in the global north contribute differently to our environmental crisis? Finally, we will discuss the possible solutions for our environmental crisis.
