Music as Culture

As Professor Daniel Ferguson explains, all humans have a strong emotional response to certain types of music; it is one of the things that differentiates us from other species. In this piece, Ferguson explains that by looking at music as culture, we gain deep insights on the larger society, and that there is no better way of gaining these insights than by experiencing the music ourselves.
