A Voyage Several Decades in the Making

Lifelong Learners pose for group photo on SP22 Voyage

In a radio interview, SP22 Lifelong Learner Connie Struempf shares her life-changing voyage experience on Semester at Sea- one that was several decades in the making.

Connie Struempf wanted to go on a Semester at Sea voyage as a college student but never had the chance. So when she learned later in life that professionals and retirees could join the 105-plus day voyages as Lifelong Learners, she signed up! But only to have her voyage interrupted by the pandemic.

In Spring 2022, she finally got her wish and set sail. It was, as she shared with her Sun City West neighbors, an experience well worth the wait.

When asked what she liked most about the voyage, Connie shared, “The opportunity to go so many places without packing and unpacking. And being with the students, of course.”

Listen to Connie’s full interview about her experience with The Community Chat, a radio program serving the Sun City West community, located northwest of Phoenix, Arizona.
