BUS 300 Business Writing and Communication [CRN 23076]

Overview of Course

Explore business communication concepts throughout our voyage. Every port will provide an opportunity to witness, investigate, and scrutinize international course concepts, such as customer service, business ethics, marketing strategies, etc. Students will learn valuable techniques for writing informative, persuasive, sales, employment, good news, and bad news communication. Students will work individually and in groups to understand and implement professional writing styles and formats, including memos, letters, reports, procedures, and manuals. As a class, we will analyze international audiences and markets to understand worldwide business context. During field exercises, students will explore business and professional practices, products, trends, and difficulties with people of another culture through speaking, listening, writing, and nonverbal means. Students will have the opportunity to share their field research and observations as they develop and refine professional presentations through management of speech anxiety, topic selection, organization, research, and use of visual aids.
