PSY 100 General Psychology

Overview of Course

This course surveys major theories, concepts, and research methods in psychology, focusing on the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Using an intersectional approach, we will examine how biological, cognitive, social, and cultural factors interact with social identities such as race, gender, class, ability, and sexual orientation to influence individual and group experiences. Students will gain a critical understanding of the field's history, evaluate research for its inclusiveness, and apply psychological principles to better understand the complex realities of diverse human experiences. The course will be didactic, experiential, and interactive.
