Student Stories & Mentors
Who better to share the transformative Semester at Sea experience than students themselves? You can chat with recent alumni directly via our Global Ambassador Program or Diversity Peer Mentor Program, or you can scroll below and explore more student stories!
Global Ambassador Program
Global Ambassadors are recent alumni who are still enrolled as undergraduate students — possibly at your campus or a campus near you! They are trained to answer questions you may have about the program and share their unique experiences.

Diversity Peer Mentor Program
Before and after each voyage, SAS can connect recent alumni with prospective voyagers who share similar identities. This is designed to be an informal mentoring program to share personal voyage experiences. Although we cannot guarantee to meet all mentorship requests, we will do our best to pair as many mentors and mentees as possible.

Through the Lens: India by Haley Hall (@haleyhallll )
“India opened my eyes to how intricate every little thing is,” shares Haley Hall, an International Business Management major from @clemsonuniversity . “The things that draw my attention aren’t always what others notice—and that’s the beauty of it. There’s so much creativity in God’s design. When I photograph nature, color, or people, I’m reminded that I didn’t create it—He did.”
Color, for Haley, is more than aesthetic—it’s part of her identity. “Growing up in Florida, I was surrounded by bright blues and endless skies. I’ve always been drawn to color because it feels alive. It reflects joy, warmth, and light—and those are the things I want my photos to carry.”
Haley’s series captures the vibrancy and awe of India—from the peaceful flow of the Ganges River to the majesty of the Himalayas in Rishikesh. “Standing there, everything felt bigger than myself. I just wanted to capture small frames of moments that told a much greater story of gratitude and wonder.”
