Get to Know the Students of Fall 2012

The 474 students of the Fall 2012 voyage represent 45 states and 10 countries around the world. They are diverse, talented and full of energy. We asked four of them what they hoped to gain from Semester at Sea, why they’re here, and what they’re most looking forward to.

“Alumni have always told me that you can’t really describe this experience, you just have to do it for yourself, so I’m excited to find out.”
Colleen Lesch, University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire, Junior – Early Childhood Development

“I applied for Semester at Sea because I knew it was the only program designed for people like me. I wanted to travel the world but couldn’t find a program that would bring me to so many countries. I am traveling to four continents on the ocean that connects them. How many other students can say that? In addition, Semester at Sea helped me out with Financial Aid and Scholarships. This opportunity to travel the world and study abroad would not have been possible without Semester at Sea and ISE.”
Eddie Schneider, Loyola University New Orleans, Junior – Advertising

“Semester at Sea is an amazing opportunity that we should all take full advantage of. It’s a blessing in every way, shape and form. We will be sharing an experience on this ship that is very rare.”
Alanna Kamin, University of California, Santa Barbara, Senior – Sociology

“I came on Semester at Sea because I think it’s the best global study abroad program, and I want to gain a better perspective on the world.”
Grant Murray, University of Colorado Boulder, Junior – Finance
