Semester at Sea Discontinues Short-Term (Maymester) Voyages

After two academically successful but under-enrolled Semester at Sea short-term (Maymester) voyages, the Institute for Shipboard Education, in consultation with the University of Virginia, has decided to discontinue its short-term voyages beginning with the May 2013 offering.

“Although difficult, this decision will enable the Institute to realign its resources behind the core Semester at Sea fall, spring, and summer academic voyages,” said President Les McCabe.

As alternatives, prospective participants are encouraged to consider the upcoming 2013 summer or fall voyages. Financial aid is still available and a transfer package has been developed.

For more information on Semester at Sea’s 2013 offerings, please see the upcoming voyages on the SAS website: http://www.semesteratsea.org/voyages/.
