Singapore was one of the Crown Colonies of the British Empire, and because of it’s strategic location, it was also one of Emperial Japan’s primary targets during World War II. ¬†Students in Breck Walker’s World War II History course were able to see first hand the places and locations most significant in the battle for control of the city. ¬†Understanding the history of the country
during World War II provides a necessary framework for understanding how Singapore, and the rest of Asia, are doing today.
