(Ajaccio, Corsica) France
Spend the day exploring Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica, a French island in the Mediterranean Sea. A port city on the rugged isle's western coast, it was the birthplace of French Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte in 1769. His ancestral home, Maison Bonaparte, is now a museum displaying family heirlooms. The baroque, 16th-century Notre-Dame Cathedral, where Napoléon was baptized, contains paintings by Delacroix and Tintoretto.
Other fun activities include exploring local museums, cathedrals and churches, and some adventure options exploring canyons and zip-lining.
When you return to the ship that evening, get ready for the next Pre-Port lecture as we head toward Marseille, France.
(Marseille) France
(Marseille) France
Situated in the Provence region of France, Marseille is located on the coast of the Gulf of Lion, part of the Mediterranean Sea, near the mouth of the Rhône. Marseille is the second-largest city in France, only to Paris.
Marseille has been a crossroads of immigration and trade since its founding by the Greeks circa 600 B.C. At its heart is the Vieux-Port (Old Port), where fishmongers sell their catch along the boat-lined quay. Explore this city via wine and food tasting, hiking, or relaxing at a cafe. After spending the day exploring this beautiful city, join us back on the ship for a New year's Eve bash! Dinner options will be available on the ship before the New Year's Eve party begins.
