Explore one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal, while also having the opportunity to visit Delhi. Situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, the Taj Mahal is the famous symbol of Emperor Shah Jehan’s love for his wife Mumatz Mahal. It took 20,000 artisans 22 years to complete this poignant mausoleum with its superb inlay work in marble and soapstone. Delhi is a near perfect blend of the ancient and the modern and is seamlessly divided in two parts: Old Delhi – designed by the Mughals, and New Delhi – designed during English rule and also known as “Lyutens” Delhi.

Day 1 (March 2): After an early morning flight, arrive in Delhi and straight drive to Agra. Later during the day visit monument of love – Taj Mahal. In the evening enjoy ‘Mohabbat-the-Taj’, a play depicting the true and immortal love of Shahjahan for Mumtaz Mahal, his beautiful wife. You will have dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 (March 3): This morning visit the impressive Agra Fort, a city within a city. Here you will visit the Diwan-i-Am – the Hall of Public Audiences, the Diwan-i-Khas – the Hall of Private Audiences, and much more. Later drive to Delhi with packed lunch. Upon arrival in Delhi visit UNESCO world heritage site of Humayun’s Tomb. Later visit old Delhi to visit the resplendent “Mosque of Friday” Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Other sites you will see in Old Delhi include the Red Fort (drive past) and Raj Ghat. During your orientation tour of New Delhi, you will drive past some magnificent monuments designed by Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens such as the India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan (President Palace). In the evening visit the Sikh Temple, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, the most prominent Sikh house of worship in Delhi. Enjoy dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 (March 4): This afternoon connect flight to Kochi.

*Please note! The Taj Mahal is currently undergoing cleaning and will likely have scaffolding surrounding parts of the famous monument while you are there. Though it won’t affect your itinerary, it will affect your photos and we don’t want you to be surprised by this.  See this article for additional details.
