Fall 2012 Voyage Cancels Call on Morocco, Adds Canary Islands

After further review of world safety conditions following recent protests at U.S. Embassies across the Middle East and North Africa, the Institute for Shipboard Education has decided to cancel its call on Casablanca, Morocco planned for September 28.

As a result, the SAS Fall 2012 itinerary has been modified as follows:

  • The voyage will spend two additional days in Cadiz, Spain, arriving September 23 and departing September 28.
  • In place of Morocco, the voyage will make a two-day call on the Canary Islands, arriving to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on September 30 and departing October 1. The Canary Islands have a rich cultural and historical background which provide numerous opportunities for experiential learning. Field activities will be made available.
  • The voyage will resume its previously planned itinerary to Ghana as scheduled, arriving to the Port of Tema the morning of October 8.

Please see the Fall 2012 voyage calendar on the SAS website for further details: www.semesteratsea.org/voyages/fall-2012/calendar/.
