Photography Field Class Captures Shanghai

As past Semester at Sea Voyagers and other visitors to Shanghai know, the city is home to one of the most visually stunning skylines in the entire world, especially when viewed from the deck of the MV World Odyssey.

During Fall 2017’s stay in Shanghai, students in Professor Rachel Raimist‘s Digital Photography class had the chance to capture the beauty of Shanghai through the lens of their cameras. Voyagers started their field class with a presentation from local students and award-winning professor and photojournalist Mark Lent, before a trip to Shanghai’s first and only museum of photography, the Shanghai Center of Photography. Students then ventured to Shanghai Tower, the second tallest building in the world, where they took the fastest elevator in the world to the very top of the building to take photos of Shanghai lit up from above.

The entire day added up to a valuable chance for students to practice the skills they’ve been learning all year, in a unique setting that changed the way they looked at their environment.
