The Semester at Sea Ultimate Playlist

The ultimate “take-me-back” to the ship soundtrack is here!

We asked a few members of our amazing alumni community to submit a song that reminds them of their Semester at Sea voyage in order to create a playlist just for Semester at Sea alumni. The first edition of the ultimate Semester at Sea playlist is below!

A few favorite memories that alumni shared with us…

Aqueous Transmission – Incubus

“Our music professor – Barbara Lundquist – played this during one of her world music presentations. It was surprising to find her playing an Incubus track, but it was immensely appropriate. To this day, when I hear this song, I think of my SAS voyage. I suspect I will not be the only one submitting this song!” , Lera Nichols O’Sullivan, Fall 2002

I Am Not My Hair – India Arie

“My roommate had them play this song for me as they were buzzing my head as I cried on Neptune day. It was absolutely beautiful and powerful.” , Brooke Wojdynski, Spring 2010

A Drop In The Ocean – Ron Pope

“I specifically remember putting in headphones and going out on deck at night when we were doing the atlantic crossing and listening to this song on repeat. The stars were glowing and it was absolute peace and tranquility. It is the best I have ever felt.” , Kael, Fall 2014
