Spring 2014 Voyage To Feature The Resolution Project

The Institute for Shipboard Education is excited to announce that Semester at Sea is partnering with The Resolution Project, a nonprofit organization that aims to develop socially-responsible young leaders around the world, empowering them to make a positive impact on the global community. The partnership, which will begin on Semester at Sea’s Spring 2014 50th anniversary voyage, will integrate The Resolution Project’s Social Venture Challenge, a unique opportunity for students to launch their own social ventures.

“The Resolution Social Venture Challenge is a pathway to action for undergraduate social entrepreneurs,” said Oliver Libby, one of Resolution’s co-founders. “We’re thrilled to invite Semester at Sea students to propose solutions to the world’s most pressing problems.”

At the end of the voyage, The Resolution Project will select Fellows to receive up to US$3,000 in seed funding and access to a network of global resources to implement their ideas.

“The Resolution Project and its Social Venture Challenge is a perfect fit for Semester at Sea,” said Michael Zoll, ISE vice president of academic affairs. “This partnership will build upon our vision of shaping tomorrow’s leaders by providing our students with additional guidance and means to implement their vision for positive global advancement.”

The Resolution Social Venture Challenge will be offered in conjunction with Semester at Sea’s new, signature Social EntrepreneurSHIP program that also launches this spring.
