Spring 2019 Voyage: By the Numbers

Spring 2019 Voyagers go through the embarkation process in the Union.

The MV World Odyssey was abuzz with excitement on January 5 as Spring 2019 Voyagers embarked in Ensenada, Mexico for the start of their journey around the world!

Students, staff, and faculty are all getting their sea legs, learning how to find the right classroom on their new floating campus, and preparing for their first port of call, Honolulu, Hawaii. “My favorite part of Semester at Sea so far is the people. Everyone is so incredibly nice and optimistic,” said Nicholas Weber from the University of San Diego. “There is this buzz in the air that we are all about to go explore the world together and I don’t know how you would top this feeling or do this anywhere else. It’s pretty incredible.”

“My first impressions of life at sea are wonderful. I was honestly worried about seasickness and making new friends, but it has been so easy,” added Isabella Munoz, a non-U.S. passport holding student from Mexico studying at the University of Houston.Everyone is so welcoming, fun and inclusive. It’s been great!”
