Spring 2020 Vietnam Coronavirus Update

We recently learned that Vietnamese authorities have imposed a quarantine in Son Loi, a rural farming region approximately 25 miles from Hanoi. We have no reason to believe that any voyager has been to this village, but we are asking anyone who may have been to this area to identify themselves upon arrival to the port in Ho Chi Minh City.

We will continue enhanced health and safety measures both on-ship and at the gangway, as explained in our previous message. Additionally, our shipboard medical team will be implementing a temperature screening and mandatory health questionnaire for all voyagers upon their return to the ship. Voyagers are still advised to follow the CDC guidelines while in port, which include:

  • Avoid animals (alive or dead), animal markets, farms, and products that come from animals (such as uncooked meat).
  • Avoid contact with sick people.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • If voyagers develop a fever or respiratory illnesses they should notify the voyage medical team and seek medical care immediately.

In light of the growing reports of coronavirus in other countries on our itinerary, we are also evaluating our upcoming port stops in Malaysia and India and will be communicating any updates within 72 hours.
